How to Achieve Your Full Potential (Even If You Don’t Feel Ready Yet)

Are you wasting your potential? Do you have a million great ideas but never seem to be able to execute any of them? Self-doubt, distractions, and many other excuses stand in our way from becoming our best-ever selves. But know this—you were born with so much potential, and today we are going to learn how to reach it to the fullest.

Believe That You Are Meant for More

Everything about achieving your fullest potential starts with your mindset.
If you keep telling yourself, “this is just how life is,” or “I’m not good enough,” you’re putting limits on your journey before you even begin. Rewrite your brain to work with you, not against you.
Next time you notice a negative thought creep into your mind, replace it with a positive one like:

  • “I have so much to offer.”
  • “I haven’t reached my peak yet.”
  • “Every day, I get closer to the person I want to become.”

Identify What “Full Potential” Looks Like to You

Your full potential looks different to everyone else’s. You can’t hit a target you haven’t defined, so get clear on where you are going.
Take time to journal about the best version of yourself. Ask yourself:

  • What would my best life look like?
  • What skills or passions light me up?
  • If fear didn’t hold me back, what would I do?

Create a Growth Plan (That You Actually Stick To)

Now that you know the person you want to become, it’s time to start working for it. Put a plan together for yourself that is super simple and sustainable.
If you add in small habits each day, they will compound in ways that can change your life much more than if you do one burst of effort, then nothing else for the rest of the month.

Example:

  • Read one personal development book per month
  • Wake up 30 minutes earlier to work on your goals
  • Take a course or join a mastermind
  • Practice one new habit for 30 days

Let Go of What’s Holding You Back

To reach your full potential, you have to release what weighs you down.
Negative beliefs can be very clear to us and scream in our brains daily—or sometimes they need to be investigated a little further to figure out the underlying cause.

Fear of failure, toxic relationships, limiting beliefs, constant comparison, or even fear of success (yes, that’s a thing!) are all examples of issues that can hold you back from reaching your full potential.

Take a look into shadow work to dive deeper into your inner self.

Surround Yourself with Growth-Minded People

You become like the people you spend time with—so choose wisely.
Spend time with those that are encouraging you to grow, inspiring you, and even challenging you. Apply this principle to both your real-life circle and your online circle.
Listen to positive influences and watch uplifting content instead of what brings you down.

You’re Closer Than You Think

Reaching your full potential doesn’t mean being perfect—it means choosing to become more of who you already are. Tap into your inner self and let the best version of you shine.
